Kentucky’s Fee Schedule Has Eleven Line Items. Which Ones Apply to You

201 KAR 9:084 itemises everything the board may charge. Most applicants pay two of them, but knowing the rest tells you what the awkward situations cost.

Abstract illustration of a long itemised list with two rows emphasized.

Kentucky publishes an unusually granular fee schedule in 201 KAR 9:084, and the granularity is informative.

What most people pay

Application 00. Biennial renewal 50. That is the ordinary path.

What the rest tells you

Temporary license 0. Conversion from temporary to full 0. Late renewal penalty 0. Activation from inactive 50. Duplicate certificate 0.

The temporary-to-full conversion charge is worth noticing: taking the temporary route costs 0 up front and 0 again to convert, so the bridge is 00 rather than 0. Worth it against a start date, not worth it as a default.

The activation-from-inactive fee at 50 is the same as a renewal, which is a mild incentive — going inactive and coming back costs about what staying current would have.

Why itemisation is a good sign

A board that publishes eleven fee lines in regulation is a board whose costs you can actually predict. Compare that with states where the amount is set by department order and appears only inside an application packet.

A note on prescribing

Kentucky’s rules on what physician assistants may prescribe have changed more than once, including movement on controlled-substance schedules. This is a state where verifying the current statute matters more than usual — do not rely on an article, including this one.

Compact position

Kentucky is a member state.
